If you purchased our DisplayLink Docking Station, model MD6950D, but cannot make your monitor work, or the monitor displays a black screen, please don’t worry, please follow the steps below to troubleshoot:

If your monitor is randomly disconnected or has a black screen when connected to the Dock, or the HDMI/DP port on the Dock used to work but suddenly fails to work, please refer to the following steps to troubleshoot:
Basic troubleshooting:
  • Please first make sure your monitor and HDMI/DP cable are working properly.
  • Please note that we recommend using standard HDMI-HDMI cables or DP-DP cables to connect your monitor to the Dock.
HDMI cable recommended is HDMI 2.0 or above.
DP cable recommended is DP1.4 or above
  • Please confirm whether other ports on the Dock except the HDMI/DP port, USB-C, USB-A, TF/SD card slot, etc. are working properly. If other ports on the Dock are working normally and only the HDMI/DP port is not working, please continue troubleshooting below:

For the Display 3 port on the Dock (running in DP Altmode):

1. Please make sure your computer has a full-featured USB-C port. If you are not sure whether your computer has a full-featured USB-C port, please check the official website of your computer or contact us via email at support@minisopuru.com. We will check it for you.

2. Please make sure you use the black braided USB-C cable that comes with the Dock to connect your computer to the Dock’s ToHost port (circled in red in the picture below).

3. Please see if you have another full-featured USB Type C cable to try connecting your computer to the Dock’s ToHost port. If so give it a try and see if this helps.

4. Please try swapping HDMI/DP cables and monitors to see if this helps.

5. Please try using another computer with a full-featured USB-C port to connect to the Dock to see if the problem persists.

6. If the above troubleshooting steps do not solve the problem you are encountering, please don’t worry, please contact us via email support@minisopuru.com. Tell us your order number, computer and monitor model, describe the problem you are experiencing in detail, send us a picture of your device connection, and we will help you.

For Display 1 and Display 2 on the Dock (relies on DisplayLink Manager to work):

1. Please try to uninstall DisplayLink Manager and reinstall the version suitable for your system.

2. Please make sure to keep DisplayLink Manager running when using the Dock. If the DisplayLink Manager is not running or it is exited, Display 1 and Display 2 on the Dock will have a black screen/not work.
When DisplayLink Manager is running, you can see its icon at the top of the screen. If you don't see the DisplayLink Manager icon, it means it is not running. Please find DisplayLink Manager in the launchpad and click to run it.

3. Please allow DisplayLink Manager the screen recording permission when allowing it. Don’t worry, it is completely safe. When you disable DisplayLink Manager from recording your screen, the Display 1 and Display 2 ports on the Dock will become unusable. You can find DisplayLink Manager in System Settings-Privacy and Security-Screen Recording-and allow it to record the screen.
