How to solve Minisopuru DisplayLink Docking Station, model MD6950D, monitor goes black/not working when connected?

If you purchased our DisplayLink Docking Station, model MD6950D, but cannot make your monitor work, or the monitor displays a black screen, please don’t worry, please follow the steps below to troubleshoot:

If your monitor doesn't work when initially connected to the Dock, please follow the troubleshooting steps below.

1. Please make sure your monitor and HDMI/DP cable are working properly.

2. Please make sure that your computer has a full-featured USB-C port. If you are not sure whether your computer has a full-featured USB-C port, please check the official website of your computer or contact us via email at support@minisopuru.com. We will check it for you.

3. Please make sure to use the 140W power adapter that comes with the Dock and plug it into the DC power port of the Dock (circled in red in the picture below). Then press the circular switch on the front of the Dock (circled green in the picture below), it should light up when the Dock is powered on normally.

4. Please make sure you use the black braided USB-C cable that comes with the Dock to connect your computer to the Dock’s ToHost port (circled in red in the picture below).

5. Please make sure to click Allow when connecting the Dock to your computer for the first time, as shown in the pop-up window below:

If you do not click Allow here, this pop-up window will not appear when you insert the Dock again. Please go to System Settings-Privacy and Security-Scroll down to find the "Allow accessories to connect" option and change it to "Ask Every Time", as shown below. Then re-insert the Dock. A pop-up window should appear, then click Allow.

6. Please install the driver for Dock, refer to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KW1AGkrZ88&t=5s

Please note:
  • Please make sure to install the DisplayLink driver for the Dock, otherwise Display 1 and Display 2 on the Dock will not work.

  • Please allow the screen recording permission of DisplayLink Manager when installing it, and rest assured, it is completely safe. If you did not allow DisplayLink Manager screen recording permission at first, you can find DisplayLink Manager in System Settings-Privacy and Security-Screen Recording-and allow it to record the screen.
  • Please make sure to keep DisplayLink Manager running when using the Dock, if DisplayLink Manager is not running or it is exited, Display 1 and Display 2 on the Dock will have a black screen/not work.

  • When DisplayLink Manager is running, you can see its icon at the top of the screen. If you don't see the DisplayLink Manager icon, it means it is not running. Please find DisplayLink Manager in the launchpad and click to run it.

7. Please note that we recommend using standard HDMI-HDMI cables and DP-DP cables to connect your monitor to the Dock.
  • HDMI cable recommended is HDMI 2.0 or above.
  • DP cable recommended is DP1.4 or above

If you use an adapter or adapter cable, such as a USB-C to DP cable, USB-C to HDMI cable, HDMI to DP cable, VGA to HDMI adapter, etc. to connect your monitor to the Dock, it may cause compatibility issues problem, so we don't recommend it.
