Introducing the upgrades of MD6950D compared to DS808.

We are about to release a new Docking Station based on Displaylink technology that supports multi-screen display, model number is MD6950D.

In this article we will briefly introduce to you the upgrades of MD6950D compared to DS808.

1. Comes with a higher power power adapter.

DS808 is equipped with a 12V3A 36W power adapter.
The new MD6950D is equipped with a 24V5.85A 140W power adapter.

The 36W DC power adapter provided with DS808 is required to power the DS808 itself. If you need to charge your laptop while using the DS808, then you need to connect another PD power adapter (usually the power adapter that comes with your laptop) to the PD port of the DS808 to charge your laptop.

The new MD6950D is equipped with a DC power adapter with a maximum output power of 140W, which is not only enough to power the Dock itself, but also has enough power to power and charge the laptop.

In other words, when using MD6950D, you only need to use one USB C to C cable to connect your laptop to the Tohost port (Supports up to 85W PD power output) of MD6950D, then you can use all the functions of MD6950D and charge your laptop at the same time.

2. A separate switch has been added.

We have a circular independent switch on the left side of the front of MD6950D. Some customers have previously reported to us that when using our DS808, if they do not need to use the functions on the Dock, they need to unplug the cable on the DS808, which is inconvenient. So we added a switch to the MD6950D. When you don’t need to use the functions on the Dock, you can press the switch to turn it off. When you need it, you can press the switch to turn it on. This will make it easier. Convenient for users to use.

3. Different video output ports.

On the DS808, the video output ports are:
Display 1: HDMI
Display 2: DP
Display 3: HDMI or DP

On the MD6950D, the video output ports are:
Display 1: DP or HDMI
Display 2: DP or HDMI
Display 3: HDMI

Compared with DS808, an HDMI or DP optional video output port is added. Convenient for users with different monitors and different cables.

4. An SD card slot and a TF card slot have been added.

Some of our DS808 customers have given us feedback that they hope that the next generation of DS808 products can have an SD card slot or TF card slot on the machine. Therefore, our MD6950D listened to the opinions of our customers and has both an SD card slot and a TF card slot. It can be very convenient for users who need to use SD cards and TF cards.

5. Two USB-A 2.0 ports have been removed.

We are equipped with two USB-A 2.0 ports on the DS808, but with the advancement of the times and the development of technology, we have removed these two USB-A 2.0 ports.

However, we still retain the other two USB-A 3.0 ports on the DS808 on the MD6950D. And a new USB-A 3.0 port has been added. Therefore, MD6950D has a total of 3 USB-A 3.0 ports. Two of them can only be used for data transmission, supporting transmission speeds of up to 5Gbps. The other one not only supports data transmission speeds up to 5Gbps, but also supports 7.5w external power supply, so you can also use this USB-A 3.0 port with a small lightning logo to charge your mobile phone, tablet and other devices.

6. A USB Type C 3.2 Gen 1 port has been added.

There was only one USB Type C 3.2 Gen 1 port on the original DS808. We have added one to the MD6950D, and now the product has two USB Type C 3.2 Gen 1 ports that support the fastest 10Gbps transfer speed.

Not only that, the two USB C ports can also be used for external charging. When you only use one of the two USB C ports (no matter which one) to charge external devices, that USB C can output up to 45W of charging power. When you use these two USB Cs to charge external devices at the same time, each USB C can support a 22W charging output.

7. Features that have not changed compared to DS808:

One 3.5mm headphone jack.

One RJ45 Ethernet port.

The above are the similarities and differences between DS808 and our upcoming MD6950D. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.
