Please make sure to click Allow when connecting the Dock to your Mac for the first time, as shown in the pop-up window below:
If you do not click Allow here, this pop-up window will not appear when you insert the Dock again. Please go to System Settings-Privacy and Security-Scroll down to find the "Allow accessories to connect" option and change it to "Ask Every Time", as shown below. Then re-insert the Dock. A pop-up window should appear, then click Allow.

I have the same issue. There is no “allow accessories to connect” in the privacy section. And the firmware update doesn’t work either since none of the files in the firmware bin will enter the app to update.

I have new Mac, (ios15) for which I purchased this device hub. Followed your instructions and still cannot get my external Apple CD drive to connect via the USB port.
